Attorney Terry Crouppen knew from an early age that he wanted to become a lawyer. His interest was inspired by episodes of Perry Mason, where courtroom disputes often centered on finding facts and revealing the truth.

That early interest eventually led him to the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1967. He later attended Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and earned his Juris Doctor in 1971.

After law school, Crouppen served as a public defender in the 22nd Judicial Circuit. This early role gave him experience representing people within the court system and helped establish the foundation for his later work as a trial lawyer.

Building Brown & Crouppen

In 1979, Crouppen co-founded Brown & Crouppen with Ron Brown. The firm was built around a belief that uncovering the facts could help clients pursue fair compensation for their losses.

As the firm developed, Crouppen continued to represent clients in a wide range of legal matters. His work has included personal injury claims, motor vehicle accidents, pharmaceutical litigation, medical device cases, nursing home matters, slip and fall accidents, and wrongful death claims.

In 2018, he received the Missouri Lawyers Media ICON Award. He was also recognized as a Best Rainmaker in the Missouri Lawyers Media Readers Poll in 2010.

His work has extended into media as well. Crouppen received Mid-America Emmy Awards in 2019 and 2020. He has also appeared in legal and advertising discussions, including a 2024 episode of the Hot Docket Podcast focused on legal advertising and brand building in personal injury law.

He has also appeared in a Super Bowl commercial connected to St. Louis in 2019, adding a distinctive public-facing element to his professional profile.

Staying Connected to St. Louis

Crouppen’s work is not limited to the courtroom. He has supported numerous nonprofit and community organizations over the years, including Sista Strut, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Annie Malone, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and Habitat for Humanity.

His more recent community involvement includes sponsorships connected to the St. Louis Cardinals, PrideFest St. Louis, Sista Strut Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, and the Italian Festa and Parade.
